Fiber Sculpture

Chrysalis

The thread of my creative process always begins with paper made by hand. Making and the art of transforming tangible fiber into intangible pulp, returning to a tangible form, is very alluring for me. When beginning a new body of work, my process always begins with a meditation with papermaking using traditional and non-traditional techniques.

My journey with paper and sculpture has ranged widely, including delicate light fixtures, stone carvings and mixed-media sculptures. My work strives to translate the inspiration that arises from living in close harmony with wild landscapes, weaving together themes of the ethereal journey, motherhood, vacancy, loss, renewal, and the ways emotional responses can evoke an understated, profound beauty.
