My work is a consideration of earth.
Earth as healer. Earth resilient.
Earth as a source of wisdom.

Living in the Southwest I have a precious access to hiking, camping and photographing untouched, wild, and organic land. The earth in this part of the country is truly enchanted, and magical in quality. The light is as much of a player in the moments of awe experienced in New Mexico. I enjoy creating prints that share that sense of inspiration.

Many of my images are nontraditional landscapes. They are calm, minimalist, and ironic at times. I use gold to represent commercial and intrinsic value of land. I also create with Kozo paper, silk, wax, paint, gold thread and vellum as print surfaces and embellishments.

I’ve practiced as a professional photographer for 30 years. It all began in the newspaper darkroom. In that 30 years time, we as a society have created and embraced the photographic image through many forms. I still enjoy several of them. I embrace medium format film, Holga, Polaroid, and digital mediums. I even sometimes use my phone and love the quality of image it is capable of currently.

I like to write and on occasion accompany the images with the words that come to me while creating the photographs.

One of my sweet spots for creating, is emersion in outside life, camping, hiking, cooking outdoors, sleeping in the fresh air... waking up with the sun and going to bed with the stars.
