Diane has accomplished noteworthy feats as an artist. She is a member of several watercolor societies, including Mulege, New Mexico Watercolor Society, and Taos Watercolor Society. She donates her watercolor paintings to support education and healthcare in Baja, CA, Mexico, has collectors in Canada, Mexico as well as in the United States. She exhibits her work with The Taos Watercolor Society, The Taos Plein Air Painters, New Mexico Watercolor Society, and at The Sanctuary Gallery in Taos, NM.
Her journey in art began at age ten with a Jon Nagy learn-to-draw kit. She developed her skills at the Cranbrook Institute of Art and high school, which led to portrait commissions during her junior and senior years. After briefly attending art classes at Michigan State University, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition.
Her artistic expression found new forms during her time in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, as she excelled in food presentation and designed stained glass windows, including one for a restaurant in Louisville, Colorado. Although other career paths interrupted her art, she remained determined to return to it.
In 2001, Diane and her husband bought a sailboat, Batwing, and sailed from Canada to Central and South America, drawing inspiration from Latin cultures. They eventually settled in Taos, sailing in Mexico during winters and spending time in Mulege, Baja California. There, she discovered watercolor, her preferred medium.
