Krysteen Waszak is a dedicated plein air painter. Her oils are exuberant, full of vibrant, lively color, and energy. A unique process where she builds layers, creates dimension and flow with her design skills, all the while painting quickly and confidently to allow the story of the painting to emerge organically. Krysteen’s paintings seem ‘alive’ which she believes comes from painting directly from life. Her pieces show off the ever changing beauty and drama of the lands and skies of New Mexico and beyond. Krysteen’s work is a large for an outdoor painter, pushing herself demands that she reach higher to ensure growth as an artist. If the artist personality comes through the brush, then Krysteen Waszak would be painted free – spirited, fun and full of life. Krysteen keeps two working studios, one in Taos, NM and one in La Mesilla, NM, outside of Santa Fe. She can often be found on the side of the road painting or out standing in a field, maybe that’s her real studio.
